As the German market leader in heavy-duty corrugated board packaging, TRICOR Packaging & Logistics AG relies on the APACHE conveyor from AKL-tec. The system solution meets the customer’s requirements with regard to the measurement of different load units as well as an automatic measuring process without interrupting the material flow.As they pass by, three laser measuring heads with razor-sharp eyes record the height, length, width and weight as well as the pallet position of the freight. “We drive both palletless raw goods and palletized finished goods in units of varying widths into our fully automated high-bay warehouse. The rails of the warehouse have to be hit right away, which is why the exact dimensions of the goods are indispensable here,” explains Klaus-Peter Weidenhaupt, project manager at TRICOR. Accordingly, the solution measures with an accuracy of one to two centimeters and also detects whether cardboard is protruding beyond the edge of the pallet. At the new plant in Bad Wörishofen, a total of seven APACHE conveyor contour control systems with horizontal scanning of the lower pallet were used in a storage area of 66,500 square meters. “We were particularly enthusiastic about the fast commissioning and short installation time of the systems. AKL-tec will also be our first contact for future projects,” Weidenhaupt sums up with satisfaction.
