EPOLOG Exportverpackung und Logistik GmbH has recently started using the APACHE volume measuring system from AKL-tec at its container packing station “Hamburg Sea” to record incoming goods for container stowage. Used as a double system, smaller goods can be measured in parallel on two zones of 6 x 2.50 x 2.80 meters each and weighed up to ten tons each. Goods up to twelve meters long can also be measured here – an absolute advantage of the double system. Direct data transfer after measurement and photos of the condition of the goods on delivery were particularly important to the customer. These requirements are met by the customized model of the volume measurement system. “We have no other location where such a high number of different types of goods are delivered to us,” says Stephan Wiegers, Managing Director of EPOLOG Exportverpackung und Logistik GmbH. Until the acquisition of the APACHEN, the goods, up to 150 truck deliveries per day, were measured quite classically with tape measure and folding rule. With the use of the multi-dimensional measuring system, the process of data acquisition could be accelerated considerably. By eliminating manual data entry, the process of recording was additionally made safer and less prone to errors. “In general, the cooperation has been very cooperative and competent. APACHE is a very user-friendly system that fits perfectly into our goods receiving process thanks to its compactness and simultaneous flexibility,” says Wiegers.
