Warehouse automation

Warehouse automation refers to the use of technologies, machines, and software systems to automate storage, retrieval, handling, and movement of goods within a warehouse. It aims to reduce manual processes, increase efficiency, improve accuracy, and optimize the use of available storage space.
In modern logistics, warehouse automation includes automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyor technology, robotic solutions, and intelligent warehouse management systems. Reliable data on dimensions, weight, and volume is essential for controlling automated processes, ensuring safe material handling, and optimizing storage capacities.

Practical example:
In an automated high-bay warehouse, pallets are measured and checked for dimensional deviations before being stored. The captured data is transferred to the warehouse management system, which assigns suitable storage locations and coordinates the automated storage process using stacker cranes.
