Founding of AKL-tec Lagersysteme by Herbert Elben

1990

Start of operations in Alsdorf in the Hölzerne Ecke with two employees in approx. 150 m² of space

1994

First major control projects for logistics automation with seven employees

1995

Development of a system based on lidar sensors and digital image processing for automated scanning of freight (automatic pallet characteristic detection) by Rüdiger Elben

1996

Presentation of the APACHE portal system at the Hannover trade fair, which measures pallets at a standstill

1997

Acquisition of shares from non-family shareholders, Rüdiger Elben appointed as additional managing director

1999

Move to new business premises at Boelstraße 7 in Alsdorf

2001

Following initial integrations in the air freight sector, APACHE is now being used more frequently in land transport, particularly in general cargo logistics

2005

Establishment of a strategic alliance with the US company Quantronix Inc. (Cubiscan) to pool core competencies and jointly serve the global market

2007

APACHE portal LFT becomes compatible

2008

Construction and move into the new building at Boelstraße 3a

Presentation of the world's first calibratable system for dynamic measurement of freight on forklifts (APACHE f1 LFT)

Construction of an additional assembly and storage hall

Expansion of the product portfolio to include systems for automated shipment document handling “redtagger”

Construction of assembly hall 5 and an automated storage tower for the production areas

Award at the SUCCESS technology competition for the product “Predictive Vision for Logistics”

AKL-tec is stable in the market and on a continuous growth path with over 60 employees and an office and production area of 4000 m²

Our history

Our journey began in the early 1990s, when we were a small company in the field of automation technology and were inspired to measure pallets using infrared fan scanners. With an innovative product idea, we developed the first APACHE – short for “Automatische Paletten Charakteristik Erfassung” (automatic pallet characteristic detection). This product still reflects our expertise in logistics automation and our passion for digital image processing.

Today, with over 30 years of experience in the design, programming, and implementation of automation processes, especially in logistics automation, we are your competent partner for innovative and high-quality solutions that can be customized and seamlessly integrated into existing systems. Our main focus is on the contactless measurement of objects, especially freight goods such as cartons, pallets, and containers, as well as master data capture and document handling. Our systems are used worldwide and, thanks to a global network of partners and integrators, guarantee that goods flows are measured precisely everywhere.
