Material handling refers to the movement, storage, control, and handling of goods and materials throughout logistics and production processes. It includes both manual and automated processes as well as the equipment and systems used to transport, position, store, or provide materials.

Practical example:
In a warehouse, material handling includes processes such as unloading incoming goods, transporting pallets and packages, storing products, picking orders, and preparing goods for shipment. Accurate master data on dimensions, weight, and volume helps companies select suitable handling equipment, optimize storage locations, and automate material flows efficiently.
