Focus on Automated Pallet Inspection

AKL-tec and VITRONIC presented themselves at a joint booth at the Pallet Symposium.

AKL-tec GmbH and VITRONIC Machine Vision GmbH look back on a successful participation at this year’s Pallet Symposium in Hamburg – the central industry meeting point for manufacturing, retail, and logistics professionals focused on pallets. The two-day event is regarded as a leading platform for professional exchange and the presentation of forward-looking technologies.

At their joint exhibition stand, both companies showcased their latest developments in the field of automated pallet logistics. A particular highlight was the expert presentation by Rüdiger Elben, Managing Director of AKL-tec GmbH, and Carsten Astner, Head of Sales Logistics Automation at VITRONIC.

Under the title “Automated Pallet Inspection – Efficient Exchange Through Objective Assessment,” the speakers demonstrated how modern machine vision systems and AI-based analysis methods can reliably identify Class C pallets and remove them from circulation. These pallets are characterized by significant wear and damage, such as missing or broken boards or the absence of an EPAL marking, and therefore pose a risk to process reliability.

Automated detection not only increases process safety but also contributes to greater efficiency throughout the entire supply chain.

“Our presentation generated strong interest. We were particularly pleased with the intensive discussions at the exhibition stand. We received many valuable impulses that will help us further optimize pallet logistics,” Elben summarizes.
